Cold Calling

Today I had to make a few cold calls to various companies. Obviously, none of them worked out. They were quite painful to make, and I can't imagine doing this full-time.

I'm worried that I may end up having to do cold calls eventually. Recruiters often try to push marketing majors into sales. Of course, if I were actually great at selling, I would've skipped college and went straight into sales.

  1. Cold Calling huh??? The key to cold calling is going with an upbeat attitude-and act like you know everyone in the office. Bring "candy"-- that girl behind the counter/frosted glass sliding panel is the key to seeing the Office Manager...lol (Can you tell I have done this recently myself) If you can't see the Office Manager, if you hand your Resume' to the desk person and a little box of chocolates or little bag of attractively wrapped mini bars-you are sure to get that Resume' to the proper person!! Try it, it's a good ice breaker. It works for me-if it doesn't go well, I just get in my car and eat all the chocolate on the way home!!! lol

My interview went pretty good. I got some good feedback from the HR personal interviewing me. One of the best HR person I have interviewed with yet. I stumbled on one question that I did not know the direction they were wanting me to take it-it was a scenario. But at the end of the interview I clarified my answer. I will know by next Tuesday if I go to the next level. Thanks for asking!
